Canon Digital Rebel XT 8MP Digital SLR Camera
8.0-megapixel CMOS sensor captures enough detail for photo-quality 16 x 22-inch prints. Includes Canon’s EF-S 18-55mm, f3.5-5.6 zoom lens. DIGIC II Image Processor provides fast, accurate image processing; captures images at a rate of up to 3 frames per second. Fast start-up time–.2 seconds. Powered by rechargeable Lithium-ion battery.
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens
Among 35mm SLR cameras, the 50mm lens provides the closest representation to our normal perspective. This lens is usually considered the standard lens because it is reasonably fast and sees pretty much what the eye sees and is strongly recommended for most general-purpose photography.
Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens
Featuring the latest 3-stop Image Stabilizer for outstanding camera shake reduction, the new EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM zoom lens also features super responsive autofocus. Replacing the popular EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM, the world’s first interchangeable lens with Image Stabilizer (IS), the lens is expected to appeal to serious amateur nature and sports photographers looking to achieve outstanding results while shooting hand held.
With all this new gear, It was time to upgrade the old camera bag. After some research we finaly decided on the Canon Deluxe Photo Backpack. After seeing it in person for twice the price at our local photography stores, we ordered it online. We also picked up a second Canon NB-2LH Rechargeable Battery Pack
for our Digital Rebel XT so we wouldn’t have to worry about running out of power in the field. In that same spirit, we added a SanDisk 2GB ULTRA II
Compact Flash memory card to our kit. This allows us to shoot all day without having to download images or reduce image size.
Also included in our bag of tricks is the Canon Speedlite 580EX flash. Now available as the 580EX II, this is the premier Speedlite for all photographers, including professionals. The Speedlite 580EX has faster recycling time, more consistent color and enhanced controls among other improvements that all photographers, especially those who shoot digital, will find useful. Zoom, Bounce, and Swivel Head for best positioning and includes a wide-angle adapter.
With the addition of the Speedlite 580EX it occured to me that we needed more power to unleash the full potential of our new toy, I mean tool. The new external Compact Battery Pack CP-E3 improves flash recycle times significantly and increases the number of firings before batteries need to be replaced. A definite must have for anyone doing wedding photography.

[...] So with the recent addition of a 50mm Prime lens and a 70-300mm zoom lens, the old camera bag wasn’t going to cut it anymore. It just wasn’t quite big enough. So I picked up this little beauty online at half the price of the local photography stores and I even purchased a second battery for the Canon Rebel XT. [...]

Ah Canon…the ONLY camera I’ll shoot with. Simply the best out there.

Hiya from the InkTank forums!
Just picked up a XSi myself a little while ago. Still getting used to it. Taking a lot of shots of this, that and the other. The Moon, flowers, chickens, cats, dogs etc…
I’m loath to take pictures in “green idiot box” mode (apologies to people who *do* use that), so I’m usually in Program mode, unless it’s an odd shot (ie Moon) then I’ll go to TV and force a different shutter speed.
I have a passing knowledge of ISO, AEB and RAW (ya! acronyms!) and am a Photoshop nut.
Just the ‘kit’ 18-55mm IS lens and a ‘vanilla’ 75-300mm lens and no other toys, gizmos or gadgets (apart from a $20 tripod, lens cleaning kit and a way-too-small bag).
Any pointers?
