Bird Wedding

Saturday, Luke and I attended the Bird wedding. (They aren’t actual birds…like flying birds. That would be strange if we celebrated two birds getting married.) Patrick Bird and Chelsea Robinette exchanged their vows and rings and are now husband and wife. Yea! I knew this day would happen, but I never could have imagined this.

Chelsea and I met three years ago (maybe longer?). I was newly married and she was a single gal. Both of us were on a journey to find our identity in Christ and what our purpose was. She was articulate and I would lose my train of thought (often). God made it possible for Chelsea to come to work with me. Our cubicles shared a wall. I loved watching and hearing her spread the word of God to her co-workers without even blinking. Her shining personality, love for people and Christ, and her vulnerability opened many doors. I cherished the lunches we’d share as we’d share our lives with one another. That was a special season to me, but I knew it wouldn’t last forever. Soon, she would leave, but we knew that wouldn’t be the end for her. No, God had other plans for Chelsea. He would soon place her in a Christian school where she would be challenged and motivated to love and teach the youth and share Christ with them. She would also meet her soon to be husband, Patrick.

I met Patrick last year. Within the first few minutes of meeting him I saw a fun, energetic, passionate, genuine, respectful and a God loving man. I also knew he was smitten with my friend Chelsea. I couldn’t help but thank Jesus for bringing them together and I prayed that their relationship would be fruitful and glorifying to Christ.

The wedding was beautiful. As we walked into the venue everyone was excited and waiting in anticipation. When the music began and the groom and his groomsmen approached the front we all knew it was close. Before long, the Bride was walking down the aisle in a stunning white gown, huge smile, and holding a vibrant yellow bouquet of roses. She was a classic beauty. Patrick looked giddy as he watched his bride approach. The vows were beautiful, thoughtful and Christ centered.

After the wedding we walked to the other side of the courtyard for cocktails and mingling. The appetizers and drinks were amazing. They have fruit fused water, open bar with white and red sangria, coffee with all the fixings…and the food…good night! It was a mixture of Asian fusion food. Yum! We were definitely spoiled. When the dining area was set, we found our table. All the tables were centered around a gorgeous fountain and the centerpieces where either bouquets of yellow and white flowers with lime accents or cylinders of lemons and limes with glowing candle toppers. It was a beautiful sight. The rest of the night was filled with heartfelt toasts, laughter, dancing and photos being taken.
