Baby Talk

17th March 2008

corbin.JPG

I was recently asked if I’ve started talking “baby talk” and I honestly want to say that I haven’t and I hope I never do. I knew that being at home all day with an infant could cause me to miss adult conversation, but I didn’t think that my speech would suffer because of it. There are days, however, I do feel like my IQ has dropped significantly. I don’t really know why I feel that way, but I do. Maybe it’s because I feel as though I have less to talk about with other adults…not sure. I think I’ll have to ponder this a little longer and maybe I’ll come up with a conclusion.

Baby crying…need to go.

Happy Birthday Mom

14th March 2008

Yesterday Corbin and I visited my mom. She has been swamped at work and we were supposed to meet us for lunch to celebrate her birthday, but instead she called and asked if we would come up and visit her for the day. I quickly replied “Yes!”. When she wasn’t working, she play with Corbin and we’d talk or watch Top Chef. We also had fun taking lots of pictures of Corbin. Since her backyard was green for once, I decided to take advantage of it. Green weeds/grass make for a wonderful backdrop.

I love so many things about my mom:

1. I love that Corbin gets the biggest smile on his face when he sees grandma.
2. I love that she makes him laugh more than I do.
3. I love that she’s not afraid of making a complete fool of herself.
4. I love that Corbin is right at home at my parents house.
5. I love that she works so hard and is so passionate about what she does. She loves to help people and make their homes beautiful.
6. I love that she has been married to my father for over 30 years and that even though they are so different, they still love each other despite their many differences.
7. I love her giving heart.
8. I love that she is sad when she can’t help others, especially family. Not because I want her to be sad, but because it shows that her heart is in the right place.
9. I love her even though she failed many times when she tries to quiting smoking, has too many cocktails, and cusses at people when they cross her. She’s not perfect, but nobody is.
10. I love her for her.

Throwing a Fit

13th March 2008

I am having such a hard time getting my son to take good naps during the day. Today he threw a huge fit after we got home. He fell asleep in his car seat for about 20 minutes and when he started fussing I picked him up and took him upstairs hoping he’d drift back to sleep, but he was not going to fall for my trickery. He was mad! He cried for 45 minutes and still didn’t fall asleep. I tried soothing him a couple times in between and then eventually decided to let him cry it out. 2pm would have been 3 hours since his last feeding, so I went back in to check on him and he was chomping on his hand. I fed him and he fell asleep in my arms. I put him down and he slept for 45 minutes. Sometimes I just don’t know what to do….I feel like a failure.

How to sooth a teething child

9th March 2008

hyland.jpg

My son hasn’t started teething yet, but I was on a mommy website and one gal asked about teething solutions and many of the women on the site said that Hyland’s Teething Tablets were the best and better than Orajel. I will definitely be looking for these when my son starts showing signs of teething.

Hyland’s Teething Tablets

Sometimes it seems as if teething goes on forever, and it can be grim for both mother and baby. Hyland’s Teething Tablets have made it easier for mother and baby for years. This homeopathic combination of natural substances relieves the restlessness, peevish whining and irritability. The small 1 grain tablets melt instantly on the tongue.
