The following baby items are awesome and I would highly recommend them to anyone. My three month old uses them on a daily basis and he loves them. The stroller is on the pricey side, but consider it an investment. Many of my friends have bought 5 strollers (give or take) in their child’s lifetime and looking back they would have definitely invested in something more versatile, reliable, and durable like the Bob Revolution stroller or the Phil and Teds stroller.
1. Bob Revolution Stroller

2. Baby Papasan Cradle Swing

3. Ocean Wonders Aquarium Bouncer

4. Swaddle Me Wrap

5. Britax Companion Car Seat

6. Sienna Backpack

Last Thursday Corbin started coughing, but I thought it was just a cold and didn’t think much of it. That night, Corbin started coughing more often and he seemed uncomfortable. I was concerned that he was coming down with something right before we were going out of town, so I called to get an appointment with the doctor. Thankfully I was able to get him in by 9:45am. After just a few moments with the doctor he said that Corbin has bronchiolitis.
Bronchiolitis is an infection of the smaller breathing tubes of the lungs. It is almost always caused by a virus, most commonly the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The infection causes inflammation and swelling of the bronchioles, which in turn causes blockage of air flow through the lungs. In infants, however, the infection is more likely to lead to bronchiolitis. This is because their airways are smaller and are more easily blocked when infection and inflammation occur. RSV infection is most likely cause of bronchiolitis from October through March. The RSV is spread by contact with secretions from an infected person. It often spreads through families, day-care, and hospital wards. Careful hand washing can help prevent this. The American Academy of Pediatrics
I asked the doctor if we should still go on our trip and he said that it would be fine because there is nothing that can be done, we just have to wait it out. So we continued with our plans to go to Arizona.
By Sunday Corbin sounded bad and was very uncomfortable so we decided to go home early. By the time we reached Yuma, Corbin started crying non stop. We stopped in a Burger King parking lot and I called the nurse hotline and when I finally got through and spoke to a nurse she started asking a bunch of questions. By the end of our conversation she recommended we come in immediately. We told her we were still in Yuma, AZ and that we wouldn’t be back to San Diego for another 2 hours. She said that it would be fine and to come straight in. Thankfully by the end of my call, Corbin was in better spirits after being held by his dad and getting some formula.
We arrived at the doctor’s office around 5:45pm. We checked in and waited to be called. Once we were inside the nurse checked Corbin’s weight (15lbs 2oz), his heart rate (good), and oxygen (good). When the doctor came in she noticed his wheezing and told us she was going to give him a breathing treatment. Usually breathing treatments are given to infants with asthma, but on occasion it helps with infants with wheezing as well. She also gave us a machine and medicine to continue the breathing treatments at home. Hopefully after a week his wheezing will be 100% gone and so will his cough.

My friend sent me a link to an article she found on Foxnews.com. The story is about the world’s smallest bodybuilder. The reason she sent it to me was because she thought it was funny how he’s only a few inches taller and heaver than my 2 1/2 month old son. I didn’t believe her until I saw the photo. Dang! Who knew! Is bodybuilding bad for someone so small? I would think it would be hard on the heart, but maybe I’m just completely naive.

Last night my husband and I watched the Family Guy Presents Blue Harvest. The movie was lent to us by good friends of ours who thought we’d get a kick out of it. We did! We laughed for the entire 48 minutes.
The movie is a reenactment of Star Wars, but Family Guy style. If you enjoy the Family Guy show on TV, give the movie a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I recently went to Barnes and Noble to find a book on sleeping habits for my son. Thankfully my son knows his nights from his days, but he needs help napping during the day. Now that he’s 10 weeks old he is much more alert and has troubles settling down to nap unless he’s in the car, stroller or swing. I don’t know about you, but I don’t intend on driving around for an hour three times a day to get my child to sleep.
As I browsed the parenting section I came across “Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child” by Marc Weissbluth, M.D. The book explains the importance of sleep from ages newborns to adolescence as well as how to help your child sleep better. So far I’ve found this book to be very informative and helpful. One thing I learned is that a child has a much more sound sleep in a crib than in a carseat or stroller. I’m sure most people are saying “duh!”, but I didn’t know. I figured sleep was sleep. Plus, when the carseat &/or stroller seems like the only place where my son will sleep for long periods of time, it’s hard to stop. However, I want the best for my son so I am trying. The book says to be consistent ….can I do it? I will do my best, but it’s so hard to hear your little baby cry:(
